300 students in a project made possible by the State Sports Incentive Law receive uniforms
The initiative is carried out in São José do Goiabal and Dionísio, in the Caparaó and Metropolitano territories, respectively

Made possible by the State Sports Incentive Law, of the State Department of Sports (SEESP), the Ajudôu Ano III project delivered kimonos and uniforms to the 300 students served in the centers of São José do Goiabal and Dionísio, in the Caparaó and Metropolitano territories, respectively.

The initiative – which has a financial contribution of R$ 292,942.35 from ArcelorMittal Brasil S/A, coming from the tax exemption of the Government of Minas Gerais – offers access to the practice of judo as an educational complement to children and adolescents between 7 and 17 years old. , enrolled in the public school system of the two cities.

“We are starting the third edition of the project without interruption, thus demonstrating its importance and acceptance with the communities, the sponsor and the Secretary of State for Sports”, stressed the general coordinator of Ajudôu, Júlio César Lana Jaques.

Classes follow the pedagogical standards of the modality – beginners train for 1 hour twice a week. Students have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of judo and develop their physical, moral and intellectual skills.

According to Júlio César, festivals and changes of lanes are held every six months, valuing students and promoting fraternization between the nuclei. He says that many of the young people who are part of the project end up becoming collaborators in the initiative.

“Since its foundation, we have already revealed hundreds of talented students, outstanding in regional, state and national competitions. In addition, several teachers today were students of the project”, he emphasizes.

For him, the State Law of Incentive to Sport allowed the growth of Ajudôu. “Today we work in a very professional and serious way, with strong partners. All this means that the benefited students have access to quality sports, first-class material and highly valued professionals”, he commented.

For the acting Secretary of State for Sports and president of the Minas Esportiva Incentive to Sports Deliberative Committee, Ricardo Sapi, initiatives like this show that the SEESP mechanism fulfills its role of promoting Minas Gerais sport.

“It is very good to know that 300 children and adolescents are in permanent contact with sport through projects such as Ajudôu. More than athletes, we want initiatives like this to form citizens committed to health, well-being and willing to make a difference in the society in which they live”, he evaluated.

Minas Esportiva Incentive to Sports Through the sports promotion program, 0.05% of the annual net revenue of ICMS that fell to the Government of Minas Gerais can be directed by the contributing companies to support sports or parasports activities.

Since 2013, when Law No. 20,824, which regulates the action, was enacted, 598 projects have been approved to provide benefits for both the population served and the supporting companies. Of this total, 198 projects have already been executed or are being executed with funds raised in excess of R$50.7 million. There are already more than 117 thousand beneficiaries, including children, adolescents, young people, adults and the elderly, from 71 municipalities in Minas Gerais.
