Ajudôu donates 1610 masks in 8 cities in Minas Gerais

Timóteo’s Health Secretary, Eduardo Morais, received 500 masks from the Ajudôu team

Municipalities receive donations to combat the spread of the virus in their municipalities

The last class held by Ajudôu was on March 17th. It’s been 3 months without setting foot on the mat, without that rush on the court, without the goal celebrations. Currently, about 2950 low-income children and adolescents are without judo, futsal, volleyball, basketball and handball classes in 14 cities in Minas Gerais..

All classes stopped like most society activities. The world’s focus became survival and the entity’s efforts went in the same direction. “It is for moments like these that we are living that Ajudôu exists”, emphasizes Júlio César Lana Jaques, founder and executive director of Ajudôu.

During the pandemic, the ONG already contributes with the donation of 120 Basic baskets in Timóteo and Brumadinho. The new aid endeavor is donations of masks to protect against the coronavirus. In the last 10 days, 1610 units were distributed in 8 cities where Ajudôu operates. Donations were made to the municipalities:

  • Timóteo (500 un.)
  • Brumadinho (400 un.)
  • Naque (120 un.)
  • Pingo D’água (120 un.)
  • Ipaba (170 un.)
  • Dionísio (100 un.)
  • São José do Goiabal (100 un.)
  • Córrego Novo (100 un.)

There are 1560 units donated by the Rotary Club Ribeirão Ipanema and Rotary Club Ipatinga and another 50 by the Ajudôu de Ipaba team in partnership with a local seamstress.

The importance of the protective mask against Covid-19

A mandatory safety item for those who want to take care of themselves and others, masks are almost becoming a national habit. According to the Federal Government website, when wearing the mask, in addition to protecting themselves against the virus that may be circulating around them, the person prevents the transmission of Covid-19 to others, if they have the disease and do not yet know it.

The use of protective masks has become an important measure in the fight against the new coronavirus, as it reduces the chances of infection. In Timóteo, distribution was strategic. “We want to thank the Ajudôu team immensely, which in this moment of a pandemic, demonstrates its greatness and social responsibility, donating masks that are being decentralized in the Basic Health Units and distributed to users. The moment requires a lot of work and solidarity”, highlights Eduardo Morais, Secretary of Health of the municipality.

The campaign  Ajudôu Vs Coronavirus continues

Ajudôu does not want to stop helping the community and its students spread across Minas Gerais. Since 1995, work has been carried out to help others.
